Pinpoint Test E: Steering Wheel Off Center

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    REFER to: Suspension System .

    Possible Sources 

    • Wheel alignment
    • Steering components

  2. E1 CHECK THE FRONT AND REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

    • VERIFY the front and rear wheel alignment is within specifications.

    Are the caster, camber and toe in within specifications? 

    Yes  GO to  E2
    No  ADJUST the caster, camber and toe in the the recommended specifications. REFER to: Suspension System . .
  3. E2 CHECK FOR LOOSE, WORN OR DAMAGED STEERING COMPONENTS

    • Check the steering system components for looseness, wear or damage.

    Do any steering system components show signs of looseness, wear or damage? 

    Yes  INSTALL new steering system components as needed. REFER to: Power Steering . REFER to: ADAPTIVE STEERING .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by an intermittent component concern.
