Parking Brake Shoes: Removal

NOTE: Vehicle with single rear wheels (SRW) shown in illustration. The wheel hub is removed from illustrations for clarity. It is not necessary to remove the wheel hub.
  1. Remove the brake disc. REFER to: Brake Disc .
    1. Remove the parking brake shoe adjuster.
    2. Remove the spring.

  2. Remove the spring.

  3. Remove the parking brake shoe hold down springs and pins.

  4. Remove the spring and the parking brake shoes.

  5. Using wire brush and the specified cleaner, clean the parking brake shoe contact points.

    Material

    : Motorcraft® Metal Brake Parts Cleaner / PM-4-A, PM-4-B

  6. Using specified grease, lubricate the parking brake shoe contact points.

    Material

    : Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESE-M1C171-A)
