DTC P040C - EGR Temperature Sensor A Circuit Low

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2019 Ford Transit-350 HD, 2019 Ford Transit-350, 2019 Ford Transit-250, 2019 Ford Transit-150, and 2019 Ford F-550 Super Duty. DTC DESCRIPTION P040C - EGR TEMPERATURE SENSOR A CIRCUIT LOW

Description:  This DTC sets when the exhaust gas recirculation temperature bank, sensor (EGRT1) (Transit) or the exhaust gas recirculation temperature bank, sensor 2 (EGRT12) (all others) temperature is less than a calibrated limit for a specified amount of time. When the EGRT1 (Transit) or the EGRT12 (all others) is less than a calibrated threshold, an increment counter advances for that drive cycle.
Possible Causes:
  • EGRT1circuit short to ground (Transit)
  • EGRT12 circuit short to ground (all others)
  • Damaged EGRT11 sensor (Transit)
  • Damaged EGRT12 sensor (all others)
Diagnostic Aids:  The presence of this DTC may indicate that the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle until the system warning message has cleared from the instrument cluster message center.
This DTC sets when the EGRT12 sensor signal voltage is less than 0.1 volt for greater than 3 seconds.
