DTC P034B - Crankshaft Position Sensor - Crankshaft Direction Incorrect

DTC DESCRIPTION P034B - CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - CRANKSHAFT DIRECTION INCORRECT

Description:  This DTC sets when the saved engine stop position and the detected engine start position differ by greater than 9 degrees, during engine restart in auto start stop mode. The engine position information is discarded and a camshaft position (CMP) sensor, crankshaft position (CKP) sensor synchronization process is carried out resulting in a longer restart condition in auto start stop mode.
Possible Causes: 
  • CKP circuit noise
  • Damaged CKP sensor connection
  • CKP sensor incorrectly installed
  • Damaged crankshaft pulse wheel
  • Damaged CKP sensor
Diagnostic Aids:  This DTC may be accompanied by other CKP sensor DTCs. Diagnose all other CKP sensor DTCs first. If no other CKP sensor DTCs are present, continue to follow diagnosis for this DTC.
