P003A - Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Control A Position Exceeded Learning Limit

DTC DESCRIPTION P003A - TURBOCHARGER/SUPERCHARGER BOOST CONTROL A POSITION EXCEEDED LEARNING LIMIT

Description:  This DTC sets when the variable geometry turbocharger voltage control high (VGTVCH) circuit or the variable geometry turbocharger voltage control low (VGTVCL) circuit are not within an expected calibrated range for a calibrated length of time.
Possible Causes: 
  • VGT Position sensor harness or connector.
  • VGT circuit open
  • VGT circuit short to ground
  • VGT circuit short to voltage
  • VGTVCL circuit intermittent
  • VGTVCH circuit intermittent
  • Damaged VGT actuator
  • Stuck or binding VGT
Diagnostic Aids:  The presence of this DTC may indicate that the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle until the system warning message has cleared from the instrument cluster message center.
