Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

- Make sure the clutch pedal switch electrical connector is connected and free of corrosion and other contaminants.
- Make sure the clutch pedal switch is installed correctly.
- Make sure the clutch pedal switch operates correctly.
- BO1: CHECK THE CLUTCH PEDAL SWITCH AND CLUTCH PEDAL ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION
- Inspect the clutch pedal switch and brake pedal assembly. Verify the clutch pedal is not unintentionally applied due to incorrect clutch pedal switch or clutch pedal installation.
- To verify clutch pedal switch (cruise control deactivator switch) installation, refer to the Cruise Control article.
- To verify clutch pedal installation, refer to the Clutch article.
- Are the clutch pedal switch and clutch pedal assembly installed correctly?
Yes No Go to BO2. REINSTALL the clutch pedal switch or clutch pedal assembly correctly. REFER to the Clutch articl or the Cruise Control article.
- Inspect the clutch pedal switch and brake pedal assembly. Verify the clutch pedal is not unintentionally applied due to incorrect clutch pedal switch or clutch pedal installation.
- BO2: CHECK THE PCM BPP (BOO1) PID
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, monitor the PCM clutch pedal PID.
- Apply and release the clutch pedal.
- Does the PID reflect the clutch pedal movement?
Yes No Go to BO3. DIAGNOSE the clutch pedal switch (also known as the cruise control deactivator switch). REFER to the Cruise Control article.
- BO3: CHECK FOR ABS MODULE DTCS
Carry out the ABS self-test.
- Is DTC U0100:00 or U0401:00 present in the ABS module?
Yes No For DTC U0401:00,
GO to the ABS module DTC Chart.
For DTC U0100:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AI .Go to BO4.
- Is DTC U0100:00 or U0401:00 present in the ABS module?
- BO4: CHECK THE PCM FOR DTCS
Carry out the PCM KOEO self-test.
- Are any DTCs present?
Yes No DIAGNOSE the PCM DTC. REFER to the appropriate Electronic Engine Controls article. Go to BO5.
- Are any DTCs present?
- BO5: VERIFY ALL WIRING CONNECTIONS
- Ignition OFF.
- BO6: CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION
- Connect all in-line electrical connectors between the ABS module, the PCM and the clutch pedal switch. Make sure the connectors seat and latch correctly.
- Connect the clutch pedal switch electrical connector. Make sure the connector seats and latches correctly.
