PSCM Circuit Information
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Refer to the Power Steering Controls wiring diagrams for schematic and connector information. Refer to Steering GSB for additional connector and wiring inspection tips.
- CC1: VERIFY STEERING TYPE
- This pinpoint test is applicable to HPAS vehicles equipped with an electric steering actuator only. It DOES NOT apply to EPAS vehicles.
- Inspect the vehicle and determine if the steering system is EPAS or HPAS with an electric steering actuator.
- The presence of a power steering pump, hydraulic hoses or tubes indicates a HPAS system.
- Is this vehicle equipped with HPAS and an electric steering actuator?
Yes No Go to CC2. GO to PINPOINT TEST BF .
- CC2: CHECK FOR PSCM DTCS U0121:00 OR U0415:00
- Ignition ON, engine running.
- Drive the vehicle above 20 km/h (12 mph) for at least 5 minutes.
Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Is DTC U0121:00 or U0415:00 currently present and active in the PSCM?
Yes No For DTC U0415, GO to PINPOINT TEST AT . For DTC U0121, GO to PINPOINT TEST AK . Go to CC3.
- CC3: INSPECT THE EPAS WIRING HARNESS AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS
- With the transmission in NEUTRAL, position the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to the Jacking and Lifting article
- Ignition OFF.
- Using a good light source, thoroughly inspect the electronic steering actuator wire harness for:
- cut wires
- pinched wires
- broken wires
- corrosion
- CC4: CHECK THE PSCM FOR RETURNING DTCS
