Field-Effect Transistor (FET) Protection
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Field-Effect Transistors (FETs) are used to protect the BCM illumination drivers from damage if the circuit is shorted to ground or experiences excessive current draw. Refer to the System Wiring Diagram to view the different groups of BCM non-networked illumination outputs. For a full description of Field-Effect Transistor (FET) protection, Refer to: Module Controlled Functions - System Operation and Component Description .
