Pinpoint Test Aa : DTC P1783

- Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The PCM monitors transmission fluid temperature. If the temperature exceeds a threshold, it sets a DTC. The PCM might limit powertrain torque to prevent further damage to the transmission.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition PCM P1783:00 Transmission Overtemperature Condition: No Sub Type Information This DTC indicates the transmission fluid temperature was greater than 275°F (135°C) for more than 5 seconds. Possible Sources
- Transmission overheating concern
- AA1 RECHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the DTCs from the PCM.
- Access the PCM and monitor the TFT (Deg C) PID
- Road test the vehicle long enough for the transmission fluid temperature to stop increasing.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the PCM self-test.
Is DTC P1783 still present?
Yes If any TFT sensor circuit DTCs are present, resolve those first. If only DTC P1783 returns, REFER to: Transmission Cooling . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to an extreme driving condition.
