Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Temperature Sensor: Removal

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Temperature Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector and detach the retainer.

  2. NOTE: Lubricate the EGRT sensor threads with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal of the EGRT sensor
    NOTE: Before installing the EGRT sensor apply a light coat of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the EGRT sensor

    Remove the EGRT sensor.

    Material: Motorcraft® Penetrating and Lock Lubricant / XL-1

    Material: Motorcraft® High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant / XL-2

    Torque: 32 lb.ft (44 Nm)

    Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Temperature Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2 

    • Disconnect the EGR temperature sensor electrical connector.

    • Detach the retainer.

  3. NOTE: Use 19 mm open end wrench to provide counter torque on EGRT sensor boss to avoid EGR tube damage.
    NOTE: Lubricate the EGRT sensor threads with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal of the EGRT sensor
    NOTE: Before installing the EGRT sensor apply a light coat of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the EGRT sensor

    Remove the EGRT sensor.

    Material: Motorcraft® Penetrating and Lock Lubricant / XL-1

    Material: Motorcraft® High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant / XL-2

    Torque: 32 lb.ft (44 Nm)
