Engine Mount RH: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

    Index-mark the hood hinge location to aid in hood installation.

  3. Remove the nuts and the hood.

    1. Release the clip.
    2. Detach and position the hood shock aside.

  5. Remove the retainers and the radiator top shield.

  6. NOTE: If equipped.

    Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.

    Remove the bolts and the skid plate.

  9. Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT .
  10. Detach the heater hose retainers.

  11. Remove the RH exhaust manifold nut.

  12. Install the special tool, the exhaust manifold nut and a length of chain. Use Special Service Tool: 303-D099 (D94T-6000-C) Lifting Bracket, Engine.

    1. Install Special Service Tool: 303-F070 Support Bar, Engine.
    2. Attach the chain installed in the previous step to the hook on the special tool.

  13. Remove the following items:

    1. Refer to: Starter Motor .
    2. If equipped. Refer to: Front Driveshaft .

  14. NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing the engine mount nuts, stud bolts or damage to the engine mount can occur.

    Remove and discard the RH engine mount nuts and studs.

  15. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe bolts and separate.

    • Clean and inspect the mating surfaces.

  16. NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.

    Loosen the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

  17. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Remove and discard the LH engine mount through bolt.

  18. Using the special tool, raise the RH side of the engine 50 mm (2 in). Use Special Service Tool: 303-F070 Support Bar, Engine.

  19. Remove and discard the RH engine mount bracket-to-engine bolts.

    1. Remove the RH engine mount and bracket as an assembly.
    2. Clean the engine mount bracket-to-cylinder block and engine mount-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.
