Port Injection Fuel Rail RH: Installation

NOTE: During the removal or installation of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.
  1. NOTE: Make sure that new fuel injector O-ring seals are installed.

    Install the new fuel injector O-ring seals and the fuel injector retaining clips onto the fuel injectors. Lubricate the new fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications .

    1. Install the fuel injectors into the fuel rail.
    2. Connect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

  3. NOTE: Ensure that the wiring harness is not damaged during the fuel rail installation.

    Install the fuel rail, push down on the fuel rail above the injectors, then install and tighten the fuel rail retaining bolts.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  4. Connect the fuel rail fuel feed tube quick release coupling. Refer to Quick Release Coupling

  5. Connect the fuel rail harness main electrical connector.

  6. NOTE: The spring lock coupling must be installed onto the fuel tube end along the centerline. The assembly is complete when the tube end bottoms out on the spring lock coupling with an audible click / snap feel. Correct assembly should be verified by pulling back on the spring lock coupling end.

    1. Connect the fuel rail fuel supply line the spring lock coupling. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings .
    2. Install the secondary latch.

  7. NOTE: The spring lock coupling must be installed onto the fuel tube end along the centerline. The assembly is complete when the tube end bottoms out on the spring lock coupling with an audible click / snap feel. Correct assembly should be verified by pulling back on the spring lock coupling end.

    1. Install the fuel rail to fuel rail fuel supply line and then connect the spring lock couplings. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings .
    2. Install the secondary latches.

  8. Install the fuel rail insulator.

  9. Install the intake manifold. Refer to: Intake Manifold .
  10. Reconnect the battery. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  11. Pressurize the fuel system. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
