Engine Mount LH: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

4x2/4x4 

  1. Clean the engine mount-to-cylinder block and engine mount-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.
  2. NOTE: If necessary, the following 4 steps are to install the LH engine mount insulator-to-cylinder block bracket.

    Install the LH engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket and install the new bolts in the sequence shown below.

    Torque: 57 lb.ft (77 Nm)

  3. Attach the generator wiring harness retainer to the engine block.

  4. Attach the generator wiring harness to the engine front cover.

  5. Attach the generator wiring harness to the oil filter adapter.

  6. NOTE: Replace the nut plate with part number W716699-S439.

    If removed, install a new engine mount-to-frame nut plate.

  7. Position the LH engine mount and hand tighten the new engine mount-to-frame bolts.

    4x4 

  8. NOTE: Use care when positioning the front axle housing or the vacuum lines to the axle solenoid may become disconnected or damaged.

    Using an adjustable stand, raise the front axle carrier into position. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  9. NOTE: It may be necessary to reposition the axle assembly to prevent interference with the steering components when installing the bolt.

    Install the new upper front axle carrier mounting bushing nut and the bolt finger tight.

  10. Install the new axle shaft housing carrier bushing nut and the bolt finger tight.

  11. Install the new lower front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  12. Tighten the axle shaft housing carrier bushing bolt.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  13. Tighten the upper front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  14. Remove the adjustable stand. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  15. Install the steering gear boot.

    1. Position back the steering column shaft U-joint to the steering gear.
    2. WARNING: Install a new steering column shaft bolt. Reuse could result in bolt failure and loss of vehicle control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).

      Install a new steering column shaft bolt.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  16. Remove the holding device from the steering wheel.

  17. NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the engine mount-to-frame bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-frame nut plate can occur.

    Torque the LH engine mount-to-frame bolts in the sequence shown below.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  18. Lower the engine to the installed position.
  19. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Install the new LH engine mount through bolt.

    Torque: 258 lb.ft (350 Nm)

  20. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Install the new RH engine mount through bolt.

    Torque: 258 lb.ft (350 Nm)

  21. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.

    Remove and discard the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts. Install new transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

    Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

  22. Position the exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe and install the bolts.

    Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

  23. Install the new RH catalytic converter-to-turbocharger nuts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  24. Install the new LH catalytic converter-to-turbocharger nuts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  25. If equipped, install the front driveshaft. Refer to: Front Driveshaft .
  26. If equipped, install the skid plate and the bolts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    • If equipped, install the underbody shield and the bolts.

      Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    • Install the pin-type retainers.

    • If equipped, install the transmission housing cover and attach the retainer.

    • Install the bolts.

      Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  27. Remove the special tools. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-F070 Support Bar, Engine, 303-1246 Engine Spreader Bar, 303-1654 Lift Eyes.

  28. Install the right rear ignition coil. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug .
  29. Install the intake manifold. Refer to: Intake Manifold .
  30. Install the CAC outlet pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Outlet Pipe .
  31. Install the CAC intake pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
  32. Install the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  33. Slide the engine appearance cover into the retaining bracket and install the retainers.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  34. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

    1. Position the hood shock and attach.
    2. Install the clip.

  35. Position the hood and install the nuts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  36. Start and check the exhaust system for leaks.
