Exhaust Manifold RH: Installation

    • Install the new exhaust manifold studs.

      Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

    • Install the new exhaust manifold gasket.

  1. NOTE: Failure to tighten the exhaust manifold nuts to specification a second time will cause the exhaust manifold to develop an exhaust leak.

    Install the exhaust manifold and the new nuts.

    Torque: Stage 1: 168 lb.in (19 Nm) | Stage 2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  2. Install a new EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube gasket.

    1. NOTE: Apply anti-seize to the EGR exhaust manifold tube nut threads before installation.

      Install the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube and finger tighten the nut.

      Material: Motorcraft® High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant / XL-2

    2. Install the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube bolts finger tight.
    3. Install the support bracket bolt finger tight.

    1. Tighten the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube nut.

      Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    2. Tighten the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube bolts.

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

    3. Tighten the support bracket bolt.

      Torque: Stage 1: 177 lb.in (20 Nm) | Stage 2: 45°

  3. Install the RH fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .
  4. Install the new RH catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  5. Install the new LH catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    • Position the exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe and install the bolts.

    • Tighten the inner exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe bolt.

      Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

    • Tighten the outer exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe bolt.

      Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

  6. If equipped, install the skid plate and the bolts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  7. If equipped, install the underbody shield and bolts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  8. If equipped, install the transmission housing cover and the bolts

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  9. Start the engine and check the exhaust for leaks.
