Engine Mount LH: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

4x2/4x4 

NOTE: If removed, the following 4 steps are to install the LH engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket.
NOTE: Clean the engine mount-to-cylinder block mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.
  1. Install the LH engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket and install the bolts.

    Torque: 57 lb.ft (77 Nm)

  2. Attach the generator wiring harness retainer to the lower LH side of the engine block.

  3. Attach the generator wiring harness to the engine front cover.

  4. Attach the generator wiring harness retainer to the oil filter adapter.

  5. NOTE: Replace the nut plate with part number W716699-S439.

    If removed, install a new engine mount-to-frame nut plate.

  6. NOTE: Clean the engine mount-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.

    • Position the LH engine mount and hand start the new engine mount-to-frame bolts.

    • Do not torque at this time.

  7. Using an adjustable stand, raise the front axle carrier into position. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  8. NOTE: It may be necessary to reposition the axle assembly to prevent interference with the steering components when installing the bolt.

    Install the new upper front axle carrier mounting bushing nut and the bolt finger tight.

  9. Install the new axle shaft housing carrier bushing nut and the bolt finger tight.

  10. Install the new lower front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  11. Tighten the axle shaft housing carrier bushing bolt.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  12. Tighten the upper front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  13. Remove the adjustable stand. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  14. Install the steering gear boot.

    1. Position back the steering column shaft U-joint to the steering gear.
    2. WARNING: Install a new steering column shaft bolt. Reuse could result in bolt failure and loss of vehicle control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).

      Install a new steering column shaft bolt.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  15. Remove the holding device from the steering wheel.

    4x2/4x4 

  16. Tighten the LH engine mount-to-frame bolts.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  17. Using the engine support bar, lower the engine to the installed position. Use Special Service Tool: 303-F070 Support Bar, Engine.

  18. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Install the new LH engine mount through bolt.

    Torque: 258 lb.ft (350 Nm)

  19. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount studs or damage to the engine mount can occur.
    NOTE: Apply threadlock to the stud threads prior to installation.

    Install the engine mount studs.

    Material: Motorcraft® Threadlock 262 / TA-26 (WSK-M2G351-A6)

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  20. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount nuts or damage to the engine mount can occur.

    Install the new RH engine mount nuts.

    Torque: 111 lb.ft (150 Nm)

  21. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.

    Tighten the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

    Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

  22. Install the new RH catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  23. Install the new LH catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    • Position the exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe and install the bolts.

    • Tighten the inner exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe bolt.

      Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

    • Tighten the outer exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe bolt.

      Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

  24. Install the front driveshaft. Refer to: Front Driveshaft .

  25. If equipped, install the skid plate and the bolts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  26. If equipped, install the underbody shield and bolts.

  27. If equipped, install the transmission housing cover and the bolts

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  28. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-F070 Support Bar, Engine.

  29. Remove the special tool and the D-ring. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-1454 Engine Spreader Bar.

  30. NOTE: When installing the high-pressure fuel pump noise insulator, spreading the openings will reduce the risk of damage.

    Install the high-pressure fuel pump noise insulator.

  31. Connect the high-pressure fuel pump wiring harness electrical connector.

  34. Install the LH engine lift eye.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

  35. Install the PCV tube.

  36. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to: Upper Intake Manifold .
  37. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

    1. Position the hood shock and attach.
    2. Install the clip.

  38. Position the hood and install the nuts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  39. Start and check the exhaust system for leaks.
