Transmission Support Crossmember - 10-Speed Automatic Transmission - 10R80: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

- If equipped, remove the bolts.
- Remove the retainers and remove the transmission housing cover.
Torque
: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
- If equipped, remove the skid plate bolts and remove the skid plate.
Torque
: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- If equipped, remove the bolts from the transmission crossmember and position the wiring harness aside.
Torque
: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
All except 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel
- Remove the LH exhaust heat shield bolt from the transmission crossmember.
Torque
: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- Remove the RH exhaust heat shield bolt from the transmission crossmember.
Torque
: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
3.0L Power Stroke Diesel
- Remove the RH exhaust heat shield bolt from the transmission crossmember.
Torque
: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- Remove the retainer nuts and heatshield.
Torque
: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
All except Raptor and 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS)/3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS)/5.0L 32V Ti-VCT

All except 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel
- Remove the retainer nuts and heatshield.
Torque
: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
All vehicles

NOTE: Clean the crossmember mounting area with an appropriate cleaner before installing the self-adhesive heat shield.
If equipped, remove and discard the self-adhesive heat shield material.

NOTE: Make sure the transmission jack makes contact on the outer ribs of the transmission fluid pan.
Using a high-lift transmission jack, support the front of the transmission and the transfer case. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
- Remove and discard the transmission support crossmember nuts and bolts.
Torque
: 76 lb.ft (103 Nm)
- Remove and discard the transmission mount nuts and remove the transmission support crossmember.
Torque
: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)
