Ignition Coil-On-Plug: Removal

  1. Remove the engine appearance cover retainers and then remove the engine appearance cover.

    1. Detach the LH ignition coil-on-plug harness retainers from the ignition coil-on-plug studbolts.
    2. Slide the red locking tab (CPA) back away from the ignition coil-on-plug, depress the latch and then remove the connector from the ignition coil-on-plug.

    1. Disconnect the RH CMP sensor electrical connectors.
    2. Detach the RH ignition coil-on-plug harness retainers from the ignition coil-on-plug studbolts.
    3. Detach the RH ignition coil-on-plug harness retainer from the valve cover studbolt.
    4. Slide the red locking tab (CPA) back away from the ignition coil-on-plug, depress the latch and then remove the connector from the ignition coil-on-plug.

  2. Use compressed air to remove any foreign material from the ignition coil-on-plugs and surrounding area before removal.
  3. NOTE: When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.

    1. Remove the ignition coil-on-plug studbolts.
    2. Remove the ignition coil-on-plugs.
