Block Heater: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
Remove the front LH wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
NOTE: Whenever the turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover the open ports to protect them from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes are susceptible to damage from even small particles. All of the components should be inspected and cleaned, if needed, prior to installation or reassembly.
- Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube quick release coupling.
- Disconnect the fuel vapor tube quick release coupling.
- Disconnect the turbocharger bypass tube quick release coupling.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the vacuum hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Loosen the clamp and remove the turbocharger inlet hose.

  : 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

NOTE: Access the block heater from the inner fender well.

NOTE: Make sure the block heater wiring is routed and secured away from rotating or hot components.

Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.

Remove the block heater.
Torque

: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
