Valve Cover LH: Removal

NOTE:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.

- Remove the following items:
- Air cleaner assembly. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- Intake manifold. Refer to: Intake Manifold .
- Left hand CAC intake pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
- Left hand ignition coil-on-plugs. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug .
- Remove the bolt, nut and the bracket.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Remove the EGR cooler bolts.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

- Disconnect the crankcase pressure sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the quick release coupling and remove the crankcase vent tube. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING . .
- Remove the oil level indicator.

- Slide the insulator up.
- Disconnect the CHT sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors.
- Detach the engine wiring harness retainers.

- Disconnect the TC vacuum supply hose.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose quick release coupling. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING . .
- Detach the vacuum hose retainer.
- Remove the bolts and position the TC control solenoid aside.
Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
- Loosen the fasteners and remove the valve cover.

- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Clean the valve cover gasket groove with soap and water or a suitable solvent.
- Inspect the spark plug seals. Remove any damaged seals using the special tools. Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle, 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer.
- Clean and prepare the RTV sealing surface. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation .
