Selector Lever Cable - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6R80, Vehicles With: Column Shift: Installation

  1. If necessary, open the adjuster lock.

  2. Position the selector lever cable and connect the retainer to the bracket.

  3. Connect the cable to the routing clip and install the selector cable retainer bolt.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  4. Pull the selector lever cable and the rubber grommet through the floor pan and route the cable toward the steering column.

    • Make sure the grommet is correctly seated in the floor pan.

  5. Install the instrument panel lower center finish panel and the screw.

  6. NOTE: Make sure the selector lever is in DRIVE.

    Connect the selector lever cable to the steering column and the selector lever mechanism.

  7. Install the selector cable retainer bolt.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  8. Install the steering column reinforcement panel and the bolts.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  9. NOTE: Push button start vehicle shown, all others similar.

    Position the steering column opening trim panel and install the screws.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  10. Connect the electrical connector(s).

  11. NOTE: Push button start vehicle shown, all others similar.

    Install the steering column opening trim panel.

  12. Install the steering column shrouds. Refer to: Steering Column Shrouds .
  13. Verify the selector lever is in D.

  14. Position the manual lever in D.

    1. Rotate the manual lever clockwise until it stops.
    2. Rotate the manual lever counterclockwise 3 detents.

  15. Connect the selector lever cable onto the manual control lever and move the cable adjuster lock down.

    • Listen for the audible click, then push back on the cable adjuster lock to verify it is locked.

    • Pull back on the selector lever cable to verify it is installed correctly to the manual lever.

  16. Verify the vehicle starts in P and N only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in R.
  17. NOTE: Anytime the parking brake switch electrical connector has been disconnected, the EPB system is deactivated and a DTC is stored in the EPB module. Perform the following step to restore the EPB system and clear the EPB module DTC.

    Apply and release the parking brake twice within 5 seconds, pausing with the switch in the NEUTRAL position for approximately one-half second between each apply and release.
