Pinpoint Test I : Selector Lever Binding Or Difficult To Move - Requires Excessive Effort

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
- Selector lever bezel damaged
  - CHECK the selector lever bezel for damage or interference. If necessary, INSTALL a new selector lever. REFER to: Selector Lever Assembly - Vehicles With: Column Shift . REFER to: Selector Lever Assembly - Vehicles With: Floor Shift .
- Selector lever cable binding at selector lever
  - VERIFY the selector lever cable is fully seated in the cable bracket at the front of the selector lever. - Selector lever cable incorrectly routed
  - VERIFY the selector lever cable is properly routed and all retaining clips are present and secure. - Selector lever, selector lever cable or internal transmission components damaged.
  - DISCONNECT the selector lever cable from the selector lever and the transmission manual control lever. VERIFY the selector lever cable moves freely in the cable housing.   - With the selector lever cable disconnected, VERIFY the selector lever moves freely. If the selector lever is difficult to move with the selector lever cable disconnected, INSTALL a new selector lever mechanism. REFER to: Selector Lever Assembly - Vehicles With: Floor Shift .   - With the selector lever cable disconnected, VERIFY the transmission manual control lever moves by hand. If the transmission manual control lever takes excessive force to move with the selector lever disconnect, INSPECT the manual control lever, manual valve, and park pawl components for damage and binding.
