Oil Cooler: Removal

  1. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Remove the oil cooler inlet hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  3. Remove the clip and disconnect the heater hose.

  4. Remove the clip and disconnect the oil cooler outlet hose. Disconnect the coolant hose retainers from the upper oil pan.

  5. NOTE: In the event of catastrophic engine failure, always install a new oil cooler assembly. Foreign material cannot be removed from the oil cooler and engine damage may occur.

    Remove the bolts and the oil cooler.

  6. Remove and discard the oil cooler gaskets.

  7. If necessary, remove the oil cooler outlet hose from the oil cooler. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
