Oil Cooler: Installation

  1. If necessary, install the oil cooler outlet hose onto the oil cooler. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  2. NOTE: Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and free of foreign materials.

    Install the new oil cooler gaskets.

  3. NOTE: In the event of catastrophic engine failure, always install a new oil cooler assembly. Foreign material cannot be removed from the oil cooler and engine damage may occur.

    • Stage 1: Install the oil cooler and hand start number 2, 4 and 7 bolts.

    • Stage 2: Hand start number 1, 3, 5 and 6 bolts.

    • Stage 3: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in) in a counter clockwise sequence starting with the number 1 bolt.

    • Stage 4: Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) in a counter clockwise sequence starting with the number 1 bolt.

  4. Connect the oil cooler outlet hose and install the clip. Connect the coolant hose retainers to the upper oil pan.

  5. Connect the heater hose and install the clip.

  6. Install the oil cooler inlet hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  7. NOTE: Evaluate the cooling system condition before filling the engine cooling system. Failure to follow these instructions can result in damage to the engine.

  8. Check and top off the engine oil with the correct engine oil for the climate. Refer to: Specifications .
