Front Seat Lumbar Assembly: Removal

NOTE: Driver seat shown, passenger seat similar.
  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to: Front Seat .
  2. Adjust the manual lumbar to the fully relaxed position.

    1. Remove the clip and the recline handle.
    2. Remove the clip and the lumbar handle.

  4. Remove the side shield screws.

  5. NOTE: Side shield without manual lumbar shown, side shield with manual lumbar similar.

    Remove the side shield.

    1. Firmly grasp the side shield, lift up and out, separating the side shield from the recliner bracket.
    2. From underneath, squeeze the retainers together and pull out on the side shield.
    3. Slide the side shield forward.

  6. Release the electrical connector retainer and position the side airbag wire harness aside.

  7. Detach the backrest cover straps and position the backrest cover aside.

  8. Detach the backrest cover lower J-clip.

  9. Detach the hook-and-loop retainer and position the backrest cover strap aside.

  10. NOTE: To install, gradually alternate the left and right seat backrest cover zippers to prevent damage to the seat backrest cover.

    1. Unzip the backrest cover zipper on each side.
    2. Position the backrest cover upward.
    3. Detach the J-clips from the lumbar wire.

  11. NOTE: For installation, note the routing of the manual lumbar cable through the backrest cover opening.

    Position the lumbar assembly cable away from the seat track.

    • Disconnect the cable from the lumbar actuator.

    • Detach the cable retainers from the seat track.

  12. Remove the lumbar assembly.

    1. Release the lumbar assembly cable retainer.
    2. Detach the lumbar assembly cable.
    3. Detach the lumbar assembly J-hooks.
    4. Detach the lumbar assembly upper J-hooks.

  13. If required. Remove the screws and the lumbar actuator.
