Front Seat Cushion Cover: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

All seats 

  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to: Front Seat .
  2. Remove the side shield screws.

    Manual seat 

    1. Remove the clip and the recline handle.
    2. If equipped Remove the clip and the lumbar handle.

  3. Remove the side shield.

    1. Firmly grasp the side shield, lift up and out, separating the side shield from the recliner bracket.
    2. From underneath, squeeze the retainers together and pull out on the side shield.
    3. Slide the side shield forward.

    Power Seat 

  4. If equipped. Remove the clip and the recline handle.

  5. Remove the side shield.

    1. Firmly grasp the side shield, lift up and out, separating the side shield from the recliner bracket.
    2. Slide the side shield forward.
    3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    All seats 

  6. Detach the electrical connector retainers and position the wiring harnesses aside.

  7. Detach the backrest cover straps and position the backrest cover aside.

  8. Detach the cushion cover J-clips and position the cushion cover aside.

  9. If equipped. Disconnect the front seat cushion heater mat electrical connector.

    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2. Detach the wiring harness retainer.

    1. On both sides, detach the cushion cover J-clips.
    2. Detach the cushion cover J-clip.
    3. Remove the strap from around the seatbelt buckle.

  10. If equipped. Detach the cushion heater mat J-clip.

  11. NOTE: Passenger seat with multi-contour option shown, passenger seat without similar.
    NOTE: When equipped with an OCS service kit, either the seat cushion adjuster (with multi-contour seat) or the OCS (without multi-contour seat) is adhered to the bottom of the seat cushion foam. This requires the cushion cover, foam, seat cushion adjuster (with multi-contour seat) and OCS to be removed as an assembly.

    For passenger seat, lift the cushion foam. If the cushion foam, OCS and, if equipped, the seat cushion adjuster are adhered together, the OCS is a service kit. If nothing is adhered together, the OCS is OE (original equipment).

  12. For driver seat or passenger seat without OCS service kit, remove the seat cushion cover and foam as an assembly.

  13. Disconnect the OCS sensor.

  14. NOTE: Typical OE OCS shown, service kit similar.

    1. Remove the OCS sensor bracket screw.

      Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    2. Remove the OCS pin-type retainers.

  15. NOTE: Note the location of the OCS hose as it passes through the seat springs for proper installation.

    Route out the OCS hose, sensor, sensor bracket and cushion heater mat wiring pigtail (if equipped) from between the seat cushion support wires and remove the OCS.

  16. Detach the backrest cover lower J-clips.

  17. Detach the hook-and-loop retainer and position the backrest cover strap aside.

  18. NOTE: To install, gradually alternate the left and right seat backrest cover zippers to prevent damage to the seat backrest cover.

    1. Unzip the backrest cover zipper on each side.
    2. Position the backrest cover upward.
    3. Detach the J-clips from the lumbar wire.

  19. Detach the multi-contour seat cushion hose retainer. Release the locking tab and disconnect the hose coupling assembly (Red) from the SCMG.

  20. Feed the multi-contour seat hose assembly out through the backrest cover opening.

  21. Disconnect the OCS sensor.

    1. Remove the multi-contour seat pin-type retainers.
    2. Lift the front of the multi-contour seat assembly to access the OCS pin-type retainers.

    1. Remove the OCS sensor bracket screw.

      Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    2. Remove the OCS pin-type retainers.
    3. Lift the OCS up off the seat cushion and start removal.

  22. Route out the multi-contour seat cushion adjuster hose assembly and cushion heater mat wiring pigtail from between the seat cushion and backrest.

  23. NOTE: Note the location of the OCS hose as it passes through the seat cushion support for proper installation.

    Route out the OCS hose, sensor and sensor bracket from between the seat track support wires and remove the OCS.

    All seats 

  24. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Invert the rear portion of the seat cushion cover.

  25. NOTE: Use care when separating the seat cushion from the hook-and-arrow or the hook may be torn from the seat cushion foam pad.
    NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the seat cushion cover.

    1. Invert the seat cushion cover.
    2. Release the hook-and-arrows.
