Fuel Tank: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- If equipped, remove the nuts and the skid plate.
Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- Remove the rear drive shaft. Refer to: Rear Driveshaft .
- Disconnect the fuel feed and vapor tube quick release couplings. Refer to QUICK RELEASE COUPLING

- Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe vent tube quick release coupling. Refer to QUICK RELEASE COUPLING
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and release the harness retainer clip.
- Remove the clamp and position aside the fuel filler pipe.
- Using a powertrain lift, support the fuel tank. Use Special Service Tool: 300-OTC1585AE Powertrain Lift.

- Remove the bolts.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)
- Position aside the fuel tanks straps and remove the fuel tank.
- Remove the bolts.
- If the fuel tank is being replaced, remove the fuel pump and sender unit and drain the fuel tank using the fuel tanker. Refer to: Fuel Pump and Sender Unit . Use Special Service Tool: 292-00004 Fuel Tanker 100 GPM.
