Fuel Tank - Vehicles With: Police Pack: Removal

NOTE: If the fuel pump is operational, connect the fuel tanker hose to the engine supply hose. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle and command the fuel pump to run.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation steps.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
  3. Remove the nuts and the skid plate.

    Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

  4. Remove the rear drive shaft. Refer to: Rear Driveshaft .
  5. Disconnect the fuel feed and vapor tube quick release couplings. Refer to QUICK RELEASE COUPLING

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors and release the harness retainer clip.

  6. Using a powertrain lift, support the fuel tank. Use Special Service Tool: 300-OTC1585AE Powertrain Lift.
    • Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)

    • Position aside the fuel tanks straps and remove the fuel tank.

  7. If the fuel tank is being replaced, remove the fuel pump and sender unit and drain the fuel tank using the fuel tanker. Refer to: Fuel Pump and Sender Unit . Use Special Service Tool: 292-00004 Fuel Tanker 100 GPM.
