Reductant Pump and Heater Assembly: Installation

All vehicles 

  1. Make sure the reductant heater is properly secured by the locating tabs.

  2. NOTE: Inboard frame mounted reductant tank shown, others similar.

    Install a new reductant pump and heater assembly seal.

  3. NOTE: During installation of the reductant pump and heater assembly, make sure the reductant heater legs are properly located inside the reductant tank and they do not get trapped under the reductant pump and heater assembly. Failure to do so may cause a reductant system leak.

    Install the reductant pump and heater assembly into the reductant tank aligning the locator tab noted during removal.

    Using the Fuel Tank Locking Ring wrench, install the reductant pump and heater assembly locking ring. Use Special Service Tool: 310-123 Locking Ring, Fuel Tank.

    Connect the reductant pump and heater assembly electrical connector.

    Outboard Frame Mounted Reductant Tank 

  6. Install the lower reductant tank cover.

    Inboard Frame Mounted Reductant Tank 

  7. Install the lower reductant tank cover and install the pushpins.

    All vehicles 

  8. Install the reductant tank. Refer to: Reductant Tank .
  9. NOTE: As much as 12 oz of fluid will be discharged from the reductant pressure line during this procedure. Discard the discharged fluid.

    If a new reductant pump and heater assembly was installed, prime the new reductant pump and heater assembly.

    1. Disconnect the reductant pressure line from the reductant injector and place the line in a clean container.
    2. Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the SCR visual check for a minimum of 2 minutes.
    3. Connect the reductant pressure line to the reductant injector.
    4. Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the SCR visual check and check for leaks.
