Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler: Removal

- Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe and the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe . Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to: Upper Intake Manifold .
- Disconnect the coolant hose. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling

- Disconnect the EGR valve coolant vent hose from the EGR valve. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Disconnect the EGR valve electrical connector.
- Disconnect the electrical connector and the vacuum hoses from the EGR bypass valve solenoid. Detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Remove and discard the EGR valve inlet tube bracket bolts, then remove the EGR valve inlet tube bracket.
- Remove the RH upper sound shield retainers and position the RH upper sound shield aside.
- Detach the wire harness retainer and position the wire harness out of the way.
- Remove the engine wire harness bolts and then position the engine wire harness out of the way.
- Remove the bolts and the EGR valve inlet tube.
- Remove and discard the EGR valve inlet tube gaskets.
- Disconnect the EGRT (exhaust gas recirculation temperature) sensor electrical connector.
- Detach the EGRT (exhaust gas recirculation temperature) sensor electrical connector retainer and the wire harness retainer.
- Remove the EGR cooler outlet pipe bolts and the EGR cooler outlet pipe.
- Remove and discard the EGR outlet pipe gaskets.

- Remove the exhaust pressure sensor assembly bracket nut.
- Loosen the exhaust pressure sensor tube assembly flare nut and remove the exhaust pressure sensor tube assembly.
- Remove the bolts and then remove the EGR cooler assembly.
- Remove and discard the EGR cooler gaskets.
