Catalytic Converter LH: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If the catalytic converter is not being replaced, the HO2S and the catalyst monitor sensor do not need to be removed from the catalytic converter. Disconnecting the electrical connectors is still necessary.
NOTE: The exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter is a 2-piece assembly. The LH and RH converters can be serviced separately as needed.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. If equipped, remove the underbody shield.

  3. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector and detach the wire clip.

  4. Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector and detach the wire clip.

  5. Remove the LH catalytic converter nuts and discard.

  6. Loosen the clamp and remove the LH catalytic converter and discard the gasket.
