Lower Arm - Raptor: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Tighten the suspension bushing fasteners with the suspension loaded or with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheels and tires, otherwise incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.
  1. NOTE: Only tighten the nuts and bolts finger tight at this stage.

    Position the lower arm and install the new lower arm bolts and nuts.

  2. Attach the lower ball joint to the wheel knuckle.

  3. Install the new lower ball joint nut.

    Torque: 76 lb.ft (103 Nm)

  4. NOTE: Do not tighten the lower shock nut and bolt until the installation procedure is complete and the weight of the vehicle is resting on the wheel and tire assemblies or incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.
    NOTE: Only tighten the nut and bolt finger tight at this stage.

    Install the new lower shock absorber nut and bolt.

  5. NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the stud from turning while removing the nut.

    Position the stabilizer bar link and install the new front stabilizer bar link lower nut.

    Torque: 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)

  6. Use a suitable jack to raise the suspension until the distance between the center of the hub and the lip of the fender is equal to the measurement taken during removal (curb height). Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  7. NOTE: Only tighten the nuts and bolts finger tight at this stage.

    Tighten the new lower arm bolts and nuts.

    Torque: 258 lb.ft (350 Nm)

  8. NOTE: Tighten the lower shock nut and bolt with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheel and tire assemblies or incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.

    Tighten the new lower shock absorber nut and bolt.

    Torque: 406 lb.ft (550 Nm)

  9. Install the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  10. Check and if necessary adjust front camber. Refer to: Front Camber and Caster Adjustment .
  11. If equipped. Position the skid plate and install the retainers.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  12. If equipped. Position the spacer and install the skid plate rear retainers.

    Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

  13. Calibrate the suspension system. Connect the scan tool and carry out the Ride Height Calibration routine. Follow the scan tool directions.
