In 2nd gear, SSA is commanded ON by the PCM/ TCM to apply the forward (1, 2, 3, 4) clutch. SSC is commanded ON to apply the intermediate (2, 6) clutch. The forward (1, 2, 3, 4) clutch connects the front carrier to the No. 3 sun gear. The intermediate (2, 6) clutch is applied to hold the No. 2 sun gear, transferring power through the rear planetary carrier to the rear ring gear/output shaft at a 2.318 to 1 ratio.
