Pickup Bed: Removal

NOTE: Pickup bed bolts are a one-use bolt. They must be replaced when removed or loosened.

NOTE: Diesel 8.0 foot pickup bed shown, all others similar.

NOTE: Spare tire removed for clarity.

Remove the tailgate.
If equipped, remove the bed liner.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
Remove the rear bumper. Refer to: Rear Bumper .
Open the fuel fill door, remove the rubber boot and fasteners and position the filler pipe(s) aside.

Disconnect the electrical connectors and retainers and position the wiring harness aside.

NOTE: Bed bolt removal requires the use of an external Torx Plus® 24EP or 24EPL socket.

Remove the following items:
1. Remove and discard the pickup bed fasteners.
2. Remove and discard the pickup bed fasteners.
