Throttle Body: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2019 Ford F-550 Super Duty, 2019 Ford F-450 Super Duty, 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty, 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, and 2018 Ford F-550 Super Duty. NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
  1. Install the new TB (throttle body) gasket.

  2. Install the TB (throttle body), then install and tighten the TB (throttle body) retaining bolts in the following stages and in the sequence shown.

    Torque: Stage 1: 89 lb.in (10 Nm) | Stage 2: Tighten an additional : 45 deg.

  3. Connect the TB (throttle body) electrical connector.

    • Connect the CAC (charge air cooler) outlet tube to the TB (throttle body).

    • Connect the electrical connector and then attach the wire harness retainer.

  4. Perform the PCM adaptive value reset for the TB (throttle body).

    • Turn the ignition key ON without cranking the engine.

    • Turn the ignition key OFF.

    • Wait 30 seconds for the PCM to reset the adaptive values for the TB (throttle body).

    • Start the engine.

  5. NOTE: This step is required only when a new throttle body is being installed.

    After the new throttle body is installed, using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the following:

    • Reset/clear the specified function for the EGR throttle. Use the General Equipment: Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS)
