Removal And Installation: Radiator: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the powertrain secondary cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding 
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .
  3. Remove the both headlamps assemblies. Refer to: Headlamp Assembly .
    1. All Vehicles. Disconnect the horn electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainer.
    2. Vehicles Equipped With Hood Ajar Switch. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    3. Vehicles Not Equipped With Hood Ajar Switch. Detach the wiring harness retainer.
    4. Vehicles With Park Aid Camera. Detach the wiring harness retainers.

  4. Detach the pin-type retainer, release the clips and position the washer fluid hose aside.

  5. Remove the bolts, pin-type retainers and the radiator grille bracket.

    Torque: Item 1: 62 lb.in (7 Nm) Item 2: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  6. Remove the pin-type retainer and the RH air deflector.

  7. Detach the pin-type retainers and remove the LH air deflector.

    • Detach the wiring harness retainers.

    • Remove the pin-type retainers and the RH air deflector.

    • Detach the power steering cooler hose retainers from the primary radiator.

    • Remove the bolts and position the power steering cooler aside.

      Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

  8. NOTE: During the removal of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove protective materials prior to installation.

    Remove the condenser inlet, outlet nuts and disconnect the fittings.

    • Make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system.

      Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

    • Pull the radiator hose to coolant pump spring clip until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the radiator hose.

    • Remove the bolts and position the coolant hose aside.

  9. Detach the air deflector pin-type retainers.

  10. Pull the radiator to CAC hose spring clip until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the radiator to CAC hose.

    1. Mark the hood latch.
    2. Remove the bolts, detach the retainer and position the hood latch aside.

      Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

  11. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  12. Release the retainers and remove the air cleaner upper intake duct.

  13. Remove the bolts, the radiator brackets and the radiator core support.

    Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

  14. Release the clamp and disconnect the radiator to degas bottle bypass hose.. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  15. Remove the bolts, release the tab and remove the secondary radiator and condenser.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  16. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the bolts, release the tab and remove the A/C condenser.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
