Degas Bottle: Removal

All vehicles 

  1. Remove the secondary battery. Refer to: Battery .

    4X4 Vehicles 

  2. Detach the vacuum lines from the degas bottle.

  3. Detach the battery cable from the degas bottle.

  4. WARNING: Always allow the engine to cool before opening the cooling system. Do not unscrew the coolant pressure relief cap when the engine is operating or the cooling system is hot. The cooling system is under pressure; steam and hot liquid can come out forcefully when the cap is loosened slightly. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

    Remove the pressure relief cap.

  5. NOTE: Charge air cooler pipes not shown for clarity.

    Clamp the lower degas bottle hose and syphon the coolant from the degas bottle. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s) Use the General Equipment: Fluid Suction Gun

  6. Remove the retaining clip from the lower hose, release the upper hose clamp and detach the coolant hoses from the degas bottle.

  7. Remove the CAC bolts.

    Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

  8. NOTE: Position the charge air cooler before removing the battery tray.

    Remove the bolts and the degas bottle.

    Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
