Coolant Pump: Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Remove the cooling fan drive assembly. Refer to: Cooling Fan Drive Assembly .
  3. Remove the cooling fan stator. Refer to: Cooling Fan Stator .
  4. Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainers.

  5. Remove the bolt, nut and position the transmission oil cooler inlet hose.

  6. Inspect the O-ring seal and replace if necessary.

  7. Remove the stud bolt and position the transmission oil cooler outlet hose.

  8. Inspect the O-ring seal and replace if necessary.

  9. Remove the power steering pressure hose bracket screw.

  10. Remove the bolts, nuts and position the battery cable bracket aside.

  11. NOTE: It may be necessary to use a " drive socket to access the bolts near the battery cable bracket.

    Remove the bolts and the coolant pump.

  12. Remove and discard the coolant pump gasket.
