Reductant Injector: Removal

NOTE: Selective Catalyst Reduction (SRC)/Reductant system components are very sensitive to external contamination. Any possible measure should be taken to prevent contamination from entering the system while servicing it.
NOTE: Reductant Fluid can corrode some metals. Reductant fluid must be stored and transported carefully. Reductant fluid must be disposed of according to local regulations.
NOTE: Fresh reductant fluid should be the only lubricant used in the assembly of these components. The use of any other lubricant ESPECIALLY PETROLEUM BASED LUBES may cause damage to the system.
NOTE: Petroleum contamination will cause permanent damage to the reductant system.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Slide the reductant injector reductant pressure line heat shield back out of the way.

  3. NOTE: When disconnecting the reductant pressure line from the reductant injector, gently press the reductant pressure line connector towards the injector and hold. Then press the connector tabs and pull the connector straight off the injector nipple. Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to the reductant injector and the reductant pressure line.
    NOTE: Do not use any tools when disconnecting the reductant pressure line. The use of tools may cause a deformity in the clip components which may cause reductant leaks.
    NOTE: Disconnect the reductant pressure line before disconnecting the reductant injector electrical connector.

    Gently press the reductant pressure line connector towards the reductant injector and hold. Press the reductant pressure line connector tabs and pull the reductant pressure line connector straight off the reductant injector nipple.

  4. NOTE: Disconnect the reductant pressure line before disconnecting the reductant injector electrical connector.

    Disconnect the reductant injector electrical connector.

  5. Remove the reductant injector retaining nuts and then remove the reductant injector. Remove and discard the reductant injector gasket.
