Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel, 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6R140: Removal

- With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove and discard the oil filter.
- Disconnect the oil temperature sensor and oil pressure switch electrical connectors.
- Remove the wiring harness bracket nut and position the wiring harness aside.
- Remove the stud bolt, the bolts and the oil filter adapter.
- Remove and discard the oil filter adapter gasket.
- Remove the starter motor. Refer to: Starter Motor .
- Remove the nut and position the transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket aside.
- Remove the steering linkage damper bolt and position the steering damper aside.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes secondary latches.
- Disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes retainer.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid cooler. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

NOTE: If equipped, a spacer may be installed between the transmission and the transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket.
Remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes-to-transmission bolt and, if equipped, the spacer.

NOTE: If reusing the transmission fluid cooler tube assembly, mark the location and orientation of the retainers before removal.
Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube assembly front retainers.

NOTE: Manipulate the transmission fluid cooler tubes as needed to remove. The front part of the tubes are removed individually.
Remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes.

If the transmission fluid tube seals or backing rings are stuck in the transmission, remove the seals and backing rings.
