Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel, 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6R140: Installation

NOTE: If installing a new transmission fluid cooler tube assembly, mark the location and orientation of the retainers before removal.
Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube assembly front retainers.
- Inspect the transmission fluid tube backing rings and seals for damage and install new backing rings or seals if necessary.

Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)
- Backing ring (7J324)
- Seal (7D285)

NOTE: Manipulate the transmission fluid cooler tubes as needed to install. The front part of the tubes are installed individually.
Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes.

NOTE: Verify the retainers are installed in the correct previously marked orientation and position.
Install the transmission fluid cooler tube assembly front retainers.

NOTE: If equipped, make sure the spacer is installed between the transmission and the transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket.
Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes-to-transmission bolt and, if equipped, the spacer.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler tubes to the transmission fluid cooler.
- Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes secondary latches.
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler tubes retainer.
- Position the steering damper and install the steering linkage damper bolt.
Torque: 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)
- Position the transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket and install the nut.
Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)
- Install the starter motor. Refer to: Starter Motor .
- Install a new oil filter adapter gasket.
- Install the oil filter adapter the stud bolt, and the bolts.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Position the wiring harness and install the wiring harness bracket nut.
- Connect the oil temperature sensor and oil pressure switch electrical connectors.
- Install a new oil filter.
- Check the engine oil level and adjust as necessary.
- Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
