The transmission fluid cooling system consists of an external oil-to-coolant transmission fluid cooler. Transmission fluid cooler tubes and hoses connect the transmission and the cooler together. Transmission fluid travels from the transmission to the transmission fluid cooler and back to the transmission. The transmission fluid cooler transfers heat to the engine coolant. A coolant thermostat mounted on the coolant outlet hose controls the flow of coolant through the transmission fluid cooler. This controls the coolant flow through the cooler and allows for faster transmission fluid warm-up.
