Hydraulic Lash Adjuster: Removal

NOTE:
The camshafts must be removed to service the hydraulic lash adjusters. After removing a camshaft the crankshaft cannot be rotated until the camshaft is installed. Therefore, the LH and RH hydraulic lash adjusters must be serviced separately. If the hydraulic lash adjusters on both cylinder heads are to be serviced, complete the removal AND installation of the LH side prior to beginning the removal of the RH side.
Left hand (LH) hydraulic lash adjusters
- Remove the LH camshaft. Refer to: Camshaft LH .

NOTE: If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed in the same positions or engine damage may occur. Mark the components for installation into their original locations.NOTE: Four of the roller followers were removed during camshaft removal.
Remove the roller followers.

Remove the hydraulic lash adjusters.
Right hand (RH) hydraulic lash adjusters
- Remove the RH camshaft. Refer to: Camshaft RH .

Remove the roller followers.
