Crankshaft Front Seal: Removal

NOTE:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the following items:
- Cooling fan. Refer to: Cooling Fan .
- Accessory drive belt. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt .

- Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and washer.
- Discard the crankshaft pulley bolt.
- Using the special tool and a step plate, remove the crankshaft pulley. Use Special Service Tool: 303-009 (T58P-6316-D) Remover, Crankshaft Vibration Damper.
- Clean and prepare the RTV sealing surface. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation

- Using the special tool, remove and discard the crankshaft front seal. Use Special Service Tool: 303-107 (T74P-6700-A) Remover, Crankshaft Front Oil Seal.
