Valve Cover RH: Removal

NOTE:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
- Remove the following items:
- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .

- Remove the bolt and position the oil level indicator aside.
- If equipped with and automatic transmission, remove the bolt and position the transmission fluid level indicator aside.
- Detach the retainer, disconnect and remove the PCV tube.

- Disconnect the RH ignition wires from the RH ignition coil-on-plugs.
- Disconnect the RH ignition wire retainers from the valve cover and position aside.
- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connectors, retainers and position aside.
- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector, retainers and position aside.
- Loosen the fasteners and remove the RH valve cover.
- Remove and discard the RH valve cover gasket.
- Remove the oil fill cap.
- Inspect the VCT oil control solenoid seal. Remove any damaged seals using the special tools. Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle., 205-142 (T80T-4000-J) Installer, Differential Bearing Cone.
- Clean and prepare the RTV sealing surface. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation .
