Valve Cover LH: Removal

NOTE:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
- Disconnect the brake vacuum tubes from the intake manifold.

NOTE: Primary battery vehicles shown, secondary battery vehicles similar.
- Release the vacuum tube clamps.. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Detach the retainer and remove the brake vacuum tubes.
- Disconnect and remove the crankcase vent tube.

- Disconnect the LH ignition wires from the LH ignition coil-on-plugs.
- Disconnect the LH ignition wire retainers from the valve cover and position aside.
- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector, retainers and position aside.
- Loosen the fasteners and remove the LH valve cover.
- Remove and discard the LH valve cover gasket.
- Inspect the VCT oil control solenoid seal. Remove any damaged seals using the special tools. Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle., 205-142 (T80T-4000-J) Installer, Differential Bearing Cone.
- Clean and prepare the RTV sealing surface. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation .
