Tie Rod End: Removal

Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

- Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire - Vehicles With: Single Rear Wheels . Refer to: Wheel and Tire - Vehicles With: Dual Rear Wheels .

- Remove and discard the tie rod end cotter pin.
- Remove the tie rod end nut retainer.

Remove the tie rod end nut.
Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

Separate the tie-rod end from the wheel spindle assembly. Use Special Service Tool: 211-003 (T64P-3590-F) Remover, Steering Arm.

- Remove and discard the front stabilizer bar link upper nut.
Torque: 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)
- Raise the stabilizer bar to gain access for tie rod end removal.
- Remove and discard the front stabilizer bar link upper nut.

Separate the sector shaft arm drag link from the wheel knuckle and tie rod. Support the tie rod. Use Special Service Tool: 211-023 (T74P-3044-A1) C-Frame and Screw.

Loosen the tie rod adjuster sleeve nut.
Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

NOTE: Count and record the number of turns required to remove the outer tie-rod end for reference during installation.NOTE: LH side shown, RH similar.
Remove the tie rod end.
