Removal And Installation: Hood: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Open the hood.

  2. On both sides. Index-mark the hood hinge location to aid in hood installation.

  3. Release the retainers and position the wiring harness aside.

  4. NOTE: Support the hood before removing the strut. Failure to follow this direction may result in damage to the components.

    Release the clips and remove the struts.

  5. NOTE: An assistant is necessary for the removal of the hood.

    Remove the nuts and the hood.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  6. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the pin-type retainers and hood insulation.

  7. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    • Remove the mylar tape.

    • Remove the rubber bumpers.

    • Remove the pin-type retainers and the hood pad.

  8. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the bolts and the striker.

    Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)
