Side Curtain Airbag - Super Cab: Removal

WARNING: The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. WARNING: The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.

    Refer to: Pyrotechnic Device Health and Safety Precautions .

  2. Lower the headliner. Refer to: Headliner - Lowering - Super Cab .
  3. Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
  4. Release the clips and remove the LH instrument panel finish panel.

    • Position aside the weather strip. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

    1. Disconnect the side curtain airbag electrical connector.
    2. Remove the side curtain airbag nuts.

      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    1. Remove the side curtain airbag bolts.

      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    2. Separate the front and rear tether clip.

  7. Detach the side curtain airbag hangers.

    1. Detach the side curtain airbag retainers from the A-pillar bracket.
    2. Pull the side curtain airbag away from the A-pillar bracket.

  9. Feed the side curtain airbag hanger out from between the A-pillar and the A-pillar bracket.

    1. Detach the pin-type retainer.
    2. Slide the side curtain airbag rearward and out, disengaging the T-tab from the sheet metal and remove the side curtain airbag.
