Parking Brake Control: Removal

Release the parking brake cable tension. Refer to: Parking Brake Cable Tension Release .
1. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the cable union.
2. Release the tabs and detach the front parking brake cable.

Disconnect the parking brake warning indicator switch electrical connector, detach the wiring retainer and position the wiring aside.

1. Detach the parking brake release handle cable end.
2. Release the tabs and position the parking brake release handle cable aside.

Detach the clips and remove the scuff plate trim panel.

Detach the clips and remove the cowl side trim panel.

Carefully position the carpet and foam support back to access the front cable grommet.

Remove the parking brake control bolts and position the parking brake control aside.
Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Detach the front cable grommet from the floor and remove the front parking brake cable and parking brake control as an assembly.

Remove the pin-type retainers and the cover.

1. Rotate the cable upwards and pull the cable end out of the parking brake control.
2. Press inward on the 2 cable retainer tabs and remove the front parking brake cable.
