Transfer Case Draining and Filling

Draining
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the transfer case drain plug.
- Remove the transfer case drain plug and drain the fluid.
- Clean the transfer case drain plug and the area around transfer case drain plug.
- Apply thread sealant to the transfer case drain plug threads and install the transfer case drain plug.
Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)
Filling
- Remove the transfer case fill plug.
- Clean the transfer case fill plug and the area around the transfer case fill plug.
- Remove the transfer case fill plug.
- Fill the transfer case with 1.8L (3.8 pt) of clean fluid. The transfer case fluid must be within 10mm (0.393 in) below the fill plug hole.

- Install the transfer case fill plug.
- Apply thread sealant to the transfer case fill plug threads.
- Install the transfer case fill plug.
Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)
